Accommodation in Flores

As a general rule, most accommodation in Flores is fairly basic of the family run inn or homestay variety. You can expect to pay more for niceties like hot water or fans. Most places include breakfast in the price but it could be as simple as roti (bread) and jam, a pancake or egg and rice with tea or coffee.

Better quality hotels exist in the main towns like Ende, Bajawa and recently Ruteng, although they may be out of reach for budget conscious travellers. In addition to these, Maumere has a couple of beachside bungalow ‘resorts’ which are very nice and quite affordable.

Labuan Bajo has by far the best range of accommodation in Flores, with more slowly coming online as the island grows in popularity and something to suit every budget. If you’ve come overland from Maumere or Ende, spoiling yourself with a couple of nights in one of the small hillside hotels is heaven sent.
