Minibuses, bemo’s and jeeps called pansars service the main island of Alor or you can hire a car or scooter. There are so few roads the scooter option is quite a good one for getting around if you’re a competent rider.

Your best option for moving between the islands is to head down to the local wharf and catch one of the small boats that ply their way around the islands. Local ferries operate between Baranusa and Kabir on Pantar Island and Alor Island. If you’re feeling really adventurous, consider trying to charter a fishing boat for a few days. Whichever way you go, most hotels or guesthouses will be happy to assist you to organise a boat.
