Most of the accommodation is centred around Kalabahi on Alor Island but there are some bungalows and homestays on some of the other islands such as Kepa and Pantar. Some of the dive resorts offer a mix of upmarket and budget accommodation. It’s also possible to camp almost anywhere but of course, you need to be self-sufficient. Imagine having a beautiful unhabited island all to yourself! In populated areas, particularly around villages, it’s common courtesy to seek permission from the kepala desa (village headman). It’s hardly ever a problem and may even result in an offer to stay in a village home.
