Most of Kalimantan’s provincial cities offer a range of accommodation starting from budget, local inns to better 4 star hotels. In our experience, you can usually drop a star rating off the promoted rate though, so a 4 star hotel is more likely to be a 3 star hotel anywhere else. Nevertheless, most hotels will look pretty good after you’ve been travelling in the interior or off the beaten track locations where local standard inns (wisma’s) are the norm, sleeping on a river boat or homestay.
